Stronger Iron (Iron Sucrose)
Restore Your Iron, Restore Your Engine
Iron is the raw material of hemoglobin — and hemoglobin is how oxygen reaches every working muscle. Stronger Iron delivers physician-directed iron sucrose infusions for lab-confirmed iron deficiency, rebuilding your iron stores safely under a standing order, with monitoring throughout every session. No test dose required.
Why Athletes Choose Stronger Iron
True Repletion
IV iron bypasses the gut and its absorption limits, depositing iron directly into the stores your marrow draws on to build hemoglobin and support oxygen delivery.
Repletion on a Training Clock
Oral iron can take months to move your numbers. IV iron refills stores within days to weeks — because hemoglobin takes weeks to build, a course completed 4-6 weeks before a big block or altitude trip is timed for full benefit.
Physician-Directed Safety
Every course starts with labs and a physician's standing order — CBC, ferritin, and iron studies first. Iron sucrose is well-tolerated with full monitoring and no test dose required.
What's in the Bag
A focused, physician-directed formula — iron therapy, not a vitamin blend
Iron Sucrose (200 mg IV)
A stable intravenous iron that replenishes ferritin — your body's iron bank. Your marrow draws on those stores to build hemoglobin, the protein that carries oxygen to working muscles. When stores are depleted, everything downstream suffers: energy, endurance, recovery, and performance. IV iron sucrose restores those stores directly, without depending on gut absorption. Hemoglobin response builds over 3-8 weeks as the marrow restocks; energy and training capacity often improve along the way.
Saline Carrier, Monitored Infusion
Iron sucrose is infused in a small saline carrier over 45-60 minutes, with monitoring throughout the session. A typical course is 200 mg per session across 5 sessions (1,000 mg total), set by the ordering physician based on your labs and needs.
How Scheduling Works
- 1. Labs first: CBC, ferritin, and iron studies (TSAT) — bring your recent results, or see "Two Ways to Get Started" below
- 2. Physician review: your results go to the ordering physician; a standing order is written if iron therapy is indicated
- 3. Infusion sessions: 45-60 minutes each, fully monitored, in-home or at our event site
- 4. Post-course check: ferritin rechecked 2-4 weeks after the final session to confirm repletion
Two Ways to Get Started
Wondering how the lab piece works? There are two doors in — both start with your numbers:
- Bring your own labs: already have recent results (CBC, ferritin, iron studies — typically within the last 90 days)? Come with them and our Medical Director reviews the numbers; a standing order is written if iron therapy is indicated.
- We order them for you: no labs yet? No problem — we'll schedule you with our Medical Director, who orders the right lab panel. Once your results are back, it's the same review-and-treatment path.
Either way, the first step is a conversation, not a commitment — call or text and we'll set up the path that fits you.
Perfect For These Situations
Lab-Confirmed Iron Deficiency
Ferritin below the healthy band with iron studies to match — the athlete or client whose bloodwork says "empty tank" whether or not they're technically anemic.
Oral Iron Failed or Intolerant
Months of tablets with numbers that barely moved — or a stomach that refuses them outright. IV iron bypasses gut absorption entirely.
Heavy-Training Drain
High-volume training blocks quietly drain iron stores. If performance has plateaued and fatigue outlasts your rest weeks, a lab review is the honest first step.
Building Toward a Big Block
Heading to altitude or a demanding competition block? Iron needs weeks to become hemoglobin — a completed course 4-6 weeks ahead of travel is timed for full benefit.
When to Choose Stronger Iron
Your labs show it
Ferritin in the deficient range (generally under ~35 ng/mL, especially with low transferrin saturation) plus symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, or failing recovery. Iron therapy starts with the number, not the feeling.
Oral iron let you down
You did the tablets for months — GI upset, constipation, or numbers that didn't move. IV iron is the established next step when oral repletion fails or isn't tolerated.
Your calendar matters
You have a competition or training block on the horizon and need repletion measured in weeks, not months. IV iron fits a training clock; oral iron rarely does.
Your physician directs it
You're under physician care for iron deficiency or anemia and want monitored, in-home administration of your prescribed regimen.
Choose something else when...
Iron replete already? Extra iron isn't your lever — once ferritin is healthy, more iron doesn't build more hemoglobin. Broad recovery support may be a better fit: Stronger Myers Cocktail. No labs yet? No problem — we'll schedule our Medical Director to order your labs (CBC, ferritin, iron studies) before anything is scheduled. Already have recent results? Bring them. Just need hydration? Stronger Hydrate is your bag.
